Today we launched the Mombasa Youth Fish Farming Project at Central Girls Primary School. The award winning innovative project was showcased at the Mombasa International Show last year by Mombasa County. We will roll out 6 such projects in every ward creating employment for 1800 youth in the initial phase. The fish farming project includes, construction of fish tanks from containers, provision of fingerlings and fish feeds, fish harvesting and marketing, training of participants in fish farming and fish handling.

Mvita, Jomvu, Changamwe and Kisauni MPs will also be 3 more fish tanks in every ward to scale up the project for the youth. Whereas, the County Government will be setting up reefer containers in each Sub-County to assist the youth in storage of their produce the respective MPs will provide generators to power up the storage facilities.

The project seeks to tap the entrepreneurship acumen of our youth by offering employment opportunities by rearing fish.
